Mr Shawqui Nour MD, Patron of Breakaway
Mr Shawqui Nour MD, FRCSpaed (Edinburgh and Glasgow), FRCPCH
We are delighted to have as our Patron Mr Shawqui Nour, Consultant paediatric surgeon at the University hospitals of Leicester.
Mr Nour graduated from Cairo university medical school and completed his general surgery training in London and Basingstoke. He commenced paediatric surgery training in Sheffield in 1986 and his training continued in Leeds and Newcastle.
Mr Nour's interest in both gastroenterology and paediatric surgery has lead to him becoming a consultant paediatric surgeon with an interest in gastroenterology.
"As a registrar and senior registrar I had comprehensive training in all aspects of paediatric surgery with excellent experience in gastroenterology, urology oncology and neonatal surgery," he says.
"I have developed an interest in gastroenterology and as a trainee I had wide exposure to all aspect of diseases and management."
"I obtained a higher degree from the University of Sheffield. My subject was gastric emptying studies using applied potential tomography."
"In 1995 I joined the staff in Leicester as a consultant paediatric surgeon with an interest in gastroenterology and laparoscopic surgery."
Mr Nour completely understands the importance of Peer to Peer support and as well as visiting our Events, he supports Breakaway's efforts and has kindly become patron.
